$1.50 just to see 'em. 

The eye is a nice "knot" into the song,
but even without that reference this is
pretty powerful, since it's "the" tree museum
and not "a" tree museum. 
It makes me wonder where the eye came
from (in the story of this photo). 
The eye of Ra (good -- it's the sun; but also
frightening, since it's the all-seeing eye on
the American $ bill).
The eye of Shiva (portent of the destroyer)
An eye carved to emulate the natural 
"eyes" on some species of birch (more 
comforting, but an intrusion into nature)
All post-apocalyptic, in any case ("apocalypse"
meaning to reveal what is hidden).

the work is in an open artsy forest route called 'the tree museum' this work is by Peter Von Tiesenhausen

Wow! I just looked at a bunch of his exhibits online --
quite amazing what he does with wood. Very different
tone from Andrew Goldsworthy, though there themes
seem to overlap a bit.
